Jab-feint right hand-left uppercut!

Discipline is a virtue that mem value because it is very difficult to maintain. All of our goals, however, require some discipline. Because life is competitive, and  the scarcity of resources stimulates a force in man to either create or destroy. In my case a both with boxing and blogging
Without further ado, here is today's Mike Tyson combo:

Left jab- right feint-left upper cut

This combination is deceptive and explosive, designed for a shorter fighter facing a taller fighter.

As I have written several times before, all pf the punching power comes from the legs, and it is only in our ability to transfer it through the  hips, torso, and shoulder that we can use our power.

The jab must be explosive, and like the old 1-2 , you whirl your body as if to through the right hand, but really youloading the left arm for a  massive uppercut, that I personally jump into the the target with. I litterally lift off the floor to land the shot.

Then I recover and pivot.

Since this month is all about lunges, i also preformed 50 jumping alternating lunges before the heavy bag session.

Try this combo! It's a Tyson fave!

No matter how chaotic your life gets, you will always have control over your body!

I woke up this morning in sansai thailand  and bathed under the sun. I began my daily training with this basic routine:

Warm up with basic yoga routine
5x 3 min round of skipping
5x3 min round of tyre bag work
2x 3 min shadow boxing

Today I noticed that my legs were not generating the same power, and
after some research came to see that bi latteral leg train like squats and deadlifts can cause some imbalances, so the solution is unilatteral traning like lunches at different angles or single legged squats. Today I went for 50 lunges each leg and did isometric lunges, essentially holding the lowered position on a suspension trainer.

When it comes to power its all about being able to transfer power from the base ,your feet , through your legs then hips, then the torso and shoulders arms and hands. Any imbalances or weakness in the chain of power , you will lose great deal of power. Last month i had to focus on core this month i have to focus on legs.

Suspension trainer, is a very usefull tool in training your core.

Todays tools: a pair of straps ( suspension trainer), boxing gloves, tyre bag, skipping rope

The swimmer: punching over the guard for knock outs!

After years of training karate and punching usually from a lower plane ascending up ward, I was struggling to learn the newer concept of the swimmer's punch. Many fighters do it, it looks like they are swinging but the in fact they are strategically punching over the gaurd.

To this punch justice you have wind up the punch and litteraly punch above your own head and crashing dowing into the target as opposed to thrusting into it.

The movement include the explosion from the legs the twist of the torse and the stroke of the arm, much akin to a swimmers stroke.

It should be noted that the palm would be facing down.

This punch can be thrown with the lead or rear hand. It is highly effective.

My friend is a muay thai fighter in thailand and he recommends smashing your opponent with your forearm using the same manuever.

I personally love how I land this shit during sparring against taller or shorter opponents.

The best way to improve your FIGHT GAME.

There is a saying about business that I think applies very well to fighting.

"If you want to succeed in business, you must be in business."
What that means is that the only way you learn how to run a business is to start one and run it. Face all obstacles, negotiate through them and either thrive or fail, which either way you learn how to make a better business.

In fighting if you want to be a successful fighter, you must fight. You have to fight in order to see exactly what your condition is made of. Your fears, your weakness, your strengths, your ability all become rapidly apparent. I remember Sparring first and being overwhelmed with feeling of thrill and the terror of not being able to breath and move. Over time the stimulus became less stimulating and I felt calmer in sparring, despite the perpetual danger. I learned to work on my conditioning for which I employed old school running and new school crossfit to make it better.  I saw my natural tendencies to attack and making combinations and I saw my weakness  of having shorter arms and needing to burst in and opening up like a mother fucker!

At some point I realized that most sparring partners are just not that motivated to fight to hard with me, and I was not interested in hurting myself for nothing, so I signed up for my first fight. Granted I was in Thailand it was easy to get a fight, but it was Muay Thai. I had trained my self, and travelled to many gyms so I walked into the fight knowing that I need to test myself.

Your first fight, will teach you infinite amounts about who you are in minutes, which feel like warp speed seconds. Then you go back to the lab, and keep experimenting until you progress through your game.

This is all necessary if and only if you are dead serious about the need to increase your fighting capability. If not, just lead a peaceful life, hire a bodyguard, and enjoy a life without violence. But if you are like me, and are military minded as Machiavelli recommend for all Prince's  to be, then you have to FIGHT. Welcome to Fight Club.

TYRE PUNCHING BAG = NO EXCUSES

There was a point in which I personally did not have the money to attend a regular boxing gym or be able to afford a heavy bag. I lived next to a tyre shop, and across the street was a home hardware store.

Four tyres, two dozen nuts and bolts along with some rope and short chit chat with my landlord, I made the following bag.

It felt so empowering to make my own gym slowly, as I saved thousands with that creativity.

You can also make other styles of bags, but I  like the look and feel of the tyre bags.

I train 5 rounds daily on the bag, and it has done great wonders for my power and endurance.

Make your tyre bag today and stop making excuses like having no money or time for the gym. This bag cost 8$ and its more durable than most punching bags that cost north of 200$.

Combat Tested PEEKABOO Training TACTICS

The slip to me has proven to be effective in creating more head movement and forcing the fighter the constantly change his orientation around the line of fire.
You only need a low hanging hook about feet above your head, and a string plus a sand bag.

You bring your head to the area where the bag rests and then you swing the bag. And with squatting you can dodge, with slipping to the left or right you can dodge. This is when the bag is swinging towards your nose. This emulates straight punches like the jab and the straight punch.

Next variation is to swing the bag side ways, in other words, swinging towards your ears.  then you bob and weave under and around the swings.

Lastly there is the side ways leaps and pivots all using your lower limbs to get out of the line of fire.

The daily practice of this drill makes head movement second nature and you will catch your self slipping punches in fights without thinking about it.

As I learned in the army, the whole point of drills is to repeat an action to the point that you are unconsciously competent.

Make your slip bag today and start slipping punches.

Over Hand Right: The Short man's Secret weapon agains tall opponents

Smaller fighters, tend to be in-fighters as they have shorter arms so they have to burst and open up like a MOTHER FUCKER and THEN GET THE FUCK OUT! . The taller opponents are concernec with body shots, especially after you land a few heavy ones on their guts, So they bring their defence to guard their torso, this is where you feint or hit with the left low, and with over hand swing over his guard you shoot for his jaw and neck.

This is when money made if you are the Mike-Tyson-wanna-be then you look at the foe's gut but throw the right over to his head.

This miss move alone usually turns the tides when I play with taller fighters.
